Meghan Markle is said to be thinking about her family’s “next chapter”, with the 44-year-old keen on making one major decision. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in California with their children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet.

The family of four, who moved to California in 2020, live in a gated community in Montecito, with many well-known neighbours. But an insider has claimed Meghan has plans to move closer to Los Angeles – with their current home around 91 miles from LA.

They said: “Meghan’s decided that being closer to Los Angeles will make life easier.”

The insider told Heatworld: “She’s sick of having to lose 4 hours of her day in the car when she has meetings or appointments, and the fact that their neighbours continue to trash-talk them doesn’t exactly make her feel welcome.”

Speaking further of the former royal, they added: “But more than that, she says they’re too cut off from the social scene in Hollywood, she wants to be much more tapped in because that’s when the deals really happen.”

Discussing Meghan and Harry’s current neighbourhood, they added: “The fact is, for most power players in the biz, Montecito is just a vacation spot; they leave their home there empty most of the year, so it’s not like there are many chances to schmooze.”

The insider says: “She’d love to get a second place in Brentwood or Bel Air, as a lot of her friends have.

“If they can squeeze it, Meghan would love it if they could be bi-coastal and get a place in New York, too. But the reality is they aren’t in the financial position to run two massive households so they need to make a choice.

“She’s open to Malibu if Harry still wants the beach life and she’s even saying Calabasas could be a great fit, not least because they could live in the same neighbourhood as Kris Jenner, and she’d really love to repair that relationship.”
