Controversial Georgia lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene lashed out at Donald Trump on Monday, Dec. 15, over the president’s shocking social media post about the death of slain director and actor Rob Reiner.
Reiner, 78, was killed alongside his wife, Michele Singer, in their Los Angeles home just one day earlier on Dec. 14, according to police.
“This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies,” Greene, a Republican state representative and long-time Trump ally, wrote in a separate post on X.
Earlier on Monday, the president fired off a social media post about the killings, saying that Reiner’s death was due to a “mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”
“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump,” the 79-year-old president wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Trump’s post came just hours after the actor’s death was announced.
Reiner repeatedly criticized Trump, but there has been no indication from police that Reiner’s death had anything to do with his political beliefs.

What did Marjorie Taylor Greene say about Trump’s Reiner post?
Greene, elected in 2020, was one of a slew of critics to speak out after Trump wrote the controversial post.
“Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had drug addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak,” Greene wrote on X above a screenshot of Trump’s post.
“Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues,” Greene’s post continued. “It’s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy, especially when it ends in murder.”
Greene recently announced her resignation from Congress on Nov. 21, citing reasons for leaving office that included changes in the Republican Party and more time with her family.
