An eight-year-old Gold Coast girl who was killed on a ski trip in Japan has been remembered as a “cheeky” and shining light.
Chloe Jeffries was with her family when she was killed on a snowmobile at a ski resort in Hakuba Village, Nagano, on Saturday.
Japanese media reports the eight-year-old’s mother was driving the snowmobile when it hit an embankment and overturned.
Chloe sustained head injuries and went into cardiac arrest. She was flown to hospital but died of her injuries.

Online, tributes are flowing for the Gold Coast girl, who was described as having a “beautiful nature” and a “cheeky, infectious smile”.
“Chloe had a way of brightening the courts and the people around her,” the South Coast Netabll Association said on social media.
“Above all, Chloe was her big sister Hallee’s biggest supporter, always cheering from the sidelines, full of pride, encouragement and love.
“Her unwavering support for Hallee and her connection to our club will forever be remembered.”
Loved ones said Chloe was a “beautiful little friend” to teammates on her netball team and often encouraged others to try new things.
“Our Birdies team will miss your smile and spirit so much each week. We will always think of you watching over every game,” a parent wrote.
Another said: “You will be remembered for your beautiful smile, kindness to others, your brightness and your determination to give it your all.”
A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson said the department was offering assistance to the girl’s family.
“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” they said.

The eight-year-old is the fourth Australian to die in Japan this year.
Victorian Michael Hurst, 27, died while skiing on back-country terrain between Niseko Moiwa and Niseko Annupuri ski resorts in February.
Hurst had a medical episode and was found unconscious by a group of skiers.
Days earlier, Sunshine Coast woman Brooke Day, 22, was killed when she became stuck on a chairlift at the Tsugaike Mountain Resort in Otari.
She suffered cardiac arrest and died.
On January 7, Rylan Henry Pribadi, 17, from Brisbane, died after crashing into a resort boundary rope in Niseko.
