Officers say the rapper was one of four people wounded outside a Dallas club.
A rising Dallas rapper was seriously injured early New Year’s Day after being shot outside an after-hours nightclub, an incident that has shaken the North Texas hip-hop community and renewed concerns about violence around nightlife venues.

The artist, known as ZeeTheWizard, was among four people shot shortly before 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day outside of Pinkhouse Dallas, an adult after-hours club near the city’s Medical District, according to the Dallas Observer. Police responding to the scene found multiple victims with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not released details about a suspect or motive.
Family members identified ZeeTheWizard—whose real name is Zec’Quire Cannon Grant Fields—as one of the victims and said he was hospitalized in critical condition, the Dallas Observer reported. Dallas police have confirmed the shooting but have not provided additional updates on his condition.
Fields had been gaining momentum in the North Texas music scene, drawing attention as part of what local outlets have described as a new wave of Dallas rap artists. He had recently signed a record deal and earned recognition from established names in hip-hop, according to reporting by Dallas News and HipHopWired. Following the shooting, a family representative asked for privacy while he receives medical care, HipHopWired reported.
The shooting adds to broader concerns about safety in Dallas nightlife areas, where police have responded to multiple violent incidents over the past year. While citywide crime trends have fluctuated, shootings tied to clubs and late-night venues continue to draw scrutiny from residents and local leaders, particularly when they impact young artists and emerging creatives.
As the investigation continues, the incident has prompted an outpouring of concern from fellow musicians and fans across North Texas, underscoring how quickly violence can disrupt a career just as it is gaining traction.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Dallas police.
