Mikey Day Had High Praise for Connor Storrie in SNL’s “Gentlemen’s Code” BTS Video

Sometimes, seeing what goes into the making of a Saturday Night Live sketch is just as funny as the final product that airs.

Case in point: The above “Behind the Sketch” video on the making of “The Gentlemen’s Code,” featuring February 28 Host Connor Storrie and Season 51 cast members Mikey Day, Ashley Padilla, Andrew Dismukes, Kenan Thompson, and Marcello Hernández.

So, how did the instantly-viral sketch come to be? Day revealed the simple inspiration early in the video.

“Gentleman’s Code” was written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell

“Streeter Seidell and I wanted to do a sketch on ‘taking off a glove and slapping someone,’” Day explained.

And so, the Victorian era-based “The Gentlemen’s Code” was born.

After Storrie insults Day in front of Ashley Padilla, the world’s longest slap fight begins — with hilarious results. The sketch quickly devolves into something resembling the famous Anchorman fight scene, with slaps being replaced by bare-fist punches,  characters being tossed through tables, dogs slapping people, and yes, even a Victorian child getting, well, punted.

In fact, this sketch may set the record for the most times “How dare you?” has ever been uttered in SNL history. Watch the original sketch below.

Mikey Day on Connor Storrie: “Very game to be silly”

In the BTS video, Day had nothing but praise to heap upon the Heated Rivalry star.

“Connor Storrie is a dreamboat,” Day said. “Very committed to character, very game to be silly, and he’s a very good actor, too.”

To be fair, Day did have one gripe about the “Gentlemen’s Code” filming session:

“My mustache was falling off from moment one,” he confessed. “Mustaches are annoying.”
