Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have lost yet another staff member who has stepped down from her role after less than a year. It has been reported that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s chief communications officer Meredith Maines has handed in her notice after just 10 months in the role.

Despite this, Maines – who became the couple’s first chief communications officer in late February – will stay on into the new year to help with the transition. Maines role was to oversee communications across the couple’s nonprofit work, business ventures and broader public profile.

In a statement to People magazine, the spokesperson said: “Meredith Maines and Method Communications have concluded their work with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“The Duke and Duchess are grateful for their contributions and wish them well.”

Maines also shared a statement. It read: “After a year of inspiring work with Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Archewell, I will be pursuing a new opportunity in 2026.

“I have the utmost gratitude and respect for the couple and the team, and the good they are doing in the world.”

The departure of another staff member from the couple’s team will no doubt raise eyebrows, with Maines having been just the latest staff member to leave her position working for the couple in a short space of time.

Another staff member who left after just months working for the couple was Emily Robinson, who was appointed director of communications.

She left her role after just four months.
