The Good Book tells us “a soft answer turneth away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.” However, this week, Sean Combs‘ mother and Netflix both appear to have put the Bible lesson of Proverbs 15:1 out to pasture — as Janice Combs made glaringly evident today.
“I am writing this statement to correct some of the lies presented in the Netflix, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released on December 2, 2025,” the octogenarian matriarch told Deadline today of the chart topping docuseries “These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean’s upbringing and family life is intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation.”
Having been in the Manhattan courtroom with her grandchildren for almost every day of her now incarcerated son’s “freak-offs,” drugs, violence and money-filled two month-long trial this summer on sex trafficking and RICO charges, the elder Combs insists the Diddy nemesis Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson produced and by Alexandria Stapleton directed Reckoning is pockmarked with lies.

Calling out the streamer for going “salacious to promote the series,” Janice Combs especially centered Saturday on claims that her much accused and admittedly girlfriend-beating offspring once took out his rage on her.
“The allegations stated by Mr. Kirk Burrows that my son slapped me while we were conversing after the tragic City College events on December 28, 1991, are inaccurate and patently false,” the onetime school bus driver and single parent declares of one of the most consequential scenes in the docuseries. “That was a very sad day for all of us,” Combs says of the NYC incident of an overly packed event promoted by her son at a school gym that led to the death of nine people and saw almost 30 injured.
“For him to use this tragedy and incorporate fake narratives to further his prior failed and current attempt to gain what was never his, Bad Boy Records is wrong, outrageous and past offensive.”

Sentenced in October to four years in prison after being found guilty by a NYC jury in July on two lesser counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, the 56-year-old “All About the Benjamins” performer is presently housed at the relatively low-security Fort Dix FCI in New Jersey. The last time Janice Combs saw her son in person at Ft. Dix was around 10 days ago, just before Thanksgiving, sources tell me.
With an expected release day of early June 2028, Combs and his large defense team have been granted a fast track appeal. At the same time, trolled relentlessly before his September 2024 arrest. during the trial and since by 50 Cent, Combs looks to have lost the chance for now of a much sought pardon from old buddy Donald Trump. Add to that a newly opened probe by LA County’s Sheriff department on claims of sexual battery, plus the dozens of civil cases and the once large livin’ Combs may not have mo’ money, but he’s got tons mo’ problems.
More specific to Netflix and 50, a December 1 dated cease and desist letter from his attorneys, Combs in a statement also called Reckoning a “hit piece.” The correspondence also said the whole thing and 50 Cent’s participation was “corporate retaliation” from Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos (who has been a little busy lately retrofitting Hollywood and buying the best bits of Warner Bros Discovery) for Combs supposedly rebuffing the exec’s attempt to make a previous Diddy documentary. Clearly failing to stop the streamer from launching the project earlier this week, Combs’ lawyers are threatening action in the courts — though nothing has been filed yet.

As well as stating the stunning BTS footage of Combs strategizing in the hours before his arrest was obtained legally, Netflix on December 2 refuted Combs’ plethora of claims they stitched him up “This is not a hit piece or an act of retribution,” a spokesperson for the streamer said. “Curtis Jackson is an executive producer but does not have creative control. No one was paid to participate.”
Today, frequent red carpet attendee Janice Combs laid down her own demands.
“I am requesting that these distortions, falsehoods and misleading statements be publicly retracted,” she exclaimed.
Netflix did not respond today to request for comment on Janice Combs remarks.

I am writing this statement to correct some of the lies presented in the Netflix, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released on December 2, 2025. These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean’s upbringing and family life is intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation.
In the documentary, I am portrayed as an abusive parent. This is untrue. As I have stated previously, I was a single mother, raising my son, I held three and even four jobs in an attempt to provide a comfortable upbringing and quality education for my child. I raised Sean with love and hard work, not abuse.
The statement made by Mr. Tim Patterson about Sean‘s life regarding my relationship with my son is not truthful and salacious to promote the series. To the contrary, I loved and nurtured Sean. My memories of Sean growing up are one of a respectful and a diligent child and teenager. Sean has always been an industrious, goal oriented, over achiever.
Moreover, the allegations stated by Mr. Kirk Burrows that my son slapped me while we were conversing after the tragic City College events on December 28, 1991, are inaccurate and patently false. That was a very sad day for all of us. For him to use this tragedy and incorporate fake narratives to further his prior failed and current attempt to gain what was never his, Bad Boy Records is wrong, outrageous and past offensive.
Sean has been a dutiful son always ensuring that I was cared for and vigilantly managing my medical care, as well as providing financial support.
I am requesting that these distortions, falsehoods and misleading statements be publicly retracted.
