The prince shared the rare insight into his family life during a conversation with a 12-year-old

Prince Harry has revealed his son, Prince Archie’s new obsession, during an engagement in Birmingham.

The Duke of Sussex received an enthusiastic welcome from hospital staff during his visit to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where he marked two decades of WellChild’s specialist nursing initiative.

Medical personnel crowded around Harry in the corridors, with one nurse receiving an embrace from the royal visitor.

The royal, who serves as WellChild’s patron, took time to pose alongside approximately twelve nurses for a group photograph.

“Thank you for everything you do,” he told the assembled staff.

Families also requested pictures with Harry during his tour of the facility, which supports seriously unwell children and their relatives as they move from hospital settings to receiving care at home.

“Do you know who’s obsessed with Lego? My son Archie and he’s a master builder,” the duke revealed.

The personal anecdote came amid speculation that Harry may be preparing to bring both his son and daughter to visit their grandfather, King Charles, at some point this week.

Harry met with two nurses whose positions are funded by the charity, which helps parents develop the necessary skills to care for their children at home, enabling earlier discharge from hospital.

He also spent time with several young patients during his tour.

Speaking to a gathering of WellChild executives, nursing staff and families, the duke acknowledged the mounting pressures facing healthcare workers.

The duke emphasised that institutions like Birmingham Children’s Hospital depend entirely on their dedicated workforce, whilst organisations such as WellChild remain central to equipping families with essential caregiving expertise.

“I don’t know if you hear it enough, the difference that you make every single day is quite literally changing daily lives,” Harry said.

He went on to recognise the growing strain on the sector, stating: “I understand, and we understand, that becomes harder every week with cuts and financial difficulties just the insanity that seems to be circulating, not just in this country but in general.”
