HARRY and Meghan are heading Down Under for the first time since their official Royal Family tour eight years ago.

The Sussexes will travel to Australia next month on their second ‘faux-royal tour’ of the year coming just weeks after visiting Jordan.

An Aussie petition has already attracted several thousand signatures titled ‘No taxpayer-funding or official support for Harry and Meghan’s private visit to Australia’.

It comes just months after Aussie PM Anthony Albanese said he wanted Kate and William to visit.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are not expected on a Royal tour Down Under this year.

But the King and Queen carried out a successful trip to Sydney and Canberra 18 months ago.

A spokesman for the Sussexes said: “Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit Australia in mid-April to take part in a number of private, business, and philanthropic engagements.

“Further details will be shared in due course.”

Neither Archie or Lilibet are expected to join the couple.

Details have not been confirmed but Harry is expected to visit armed forces and veterans.

Harry and Meghan toured Australia in 2018 when they were working Royals just five months after their wedding.

Some believe it was the couple’s highlight of their short spell as working members of the Royal Family with huge crowds coming out to see the couple.

But in their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, Harry claimed their so-called success caused friction with other family members.

He claimed: “It really changed after the Australia tour, after our South Pacific tour.

“It was the first time that the family got to see how incredible she is at the job. And that brought back memories.

“To see how effortless it was for Meghan to come into the family so quickly in Australia and across New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, and just be able to connect with people.”
