An investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead in a home in Goulburn.

The body was located after New South Wales Police were called to a home on Joshua Street following reports of a concern for welfare at about 7am on Saturday.

Officers forced entry into the home, where they located the body of the woman.

Police are yet to formally identify the woman, but believe she is aged in her 40s.

The death is being treated as suspicious.

Detectives and the homicide squad have commenced an investigation.

A crime scene has been established and a section of the street has been cordoned off while officers interview nearby residents.

Forensic officers could be seen searching for fingerprints on the home’s windows.
