Two men have been charged in connection with a fatal crash, where a man was killed after a truck allegedly struck him head-on on the wrong side of the Bruce Highway.

Andre Roberts, 26, was driving home about 10.30pm on Tuesday, February 17 in his white Honda Accord when he was struck head-on by an allegedly stolen white Hino truck, which was driving southbound in a northbound lane in Burpengary, north of Brisbane.

The Honda – which had been travelling in the correct direction – burst into flames upon impact.

Mr Roberts died at the scene.

Police are investigating whether the truck – which was allegedly bearing false plates – was being pursued by a group of other cars on the wrong side of the road when it crashed into the Honda.

The driver of the allegedly stolen truck suffered significant head, neck and pelvic injuries and was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

On Friday, police searched a home in Redcliffe, where they seized allegedly stolen property and a firearm, which are both linked to the stolen truck.

Two Redcliffe men, aged 49 and 36, were charged with enter premises, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and weapons offences.

They are assisting police with the inquiries and expected to face Redcliffe Magistrates Court on March 16.

“Detectives have identified all vehicles involved in the incident and a number of people are assisting police with their inquiries,” a police statement read.

“Investigators would again like to thank the community for their assistance to date and are continuing to encourage anyone with information or those with footage, who have not yet come forward, to contact police.”

On Wednesday, police seized a car they believe was involved in the pursuit moments before the crash.

At about 5.30pm on Wednesday, police located a Ford Ranger suspected as being the car following the truck before the crash at a business on Magnesium St in Narangba.

“A Narangba man is assisting police with their inquiries,” police said.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Detective Inspector David Harbison said the truck was driving at “excessive speed”.

“A young man’s tragically been killed for no reason,” he said.

“It was amazing that no one else was harmed.”
