Magda Szubanski, known for her iconic roles on screen, most notably as Sharon in Kath and Kim, was inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame last night. Szubanski, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer was unable to physically attend the event but did still make a digital appearance in what was the most moving moment of the ceremony.
Magda Szubanski has been working in the Australian TV industry for over 40-years, and her filmography includes some of the largest and most popular projects from our nation. When the Hall of Fame inductee spoke to the crowd she started off with a quip about how she rightly earned the award and wasn’t gifted as a result of her ongoing battle with cancer, before eventually giving a powerful speech that left no dry eyes in the room.
It was announced via an Instagram post to her own account back in late May about her diagnosis with a rare blood cancer. Her initial post received an outpouring response of love and support both from colleagues in the industry and fans of hers. Her induction into the Hall of Fame is a true testament to her work as a comedian and a performer over the last 40-years. Making herself a true face of the industry.
