In a startling and disturbing moment inside a Florida courtroom today, 20‑year‑old Tramonte Terrell Gibson appeared before a judge charged in a violent spree that left one man dead and four others wounded in Riviera Beach, Fla. — and what happened next sent shockwaves through everyone present.
Gibson, who is accused of opening fire late Monday evening in the Azure Estates community, was brought before a judge Wednesday morning following his arrest. The hearing was expected to be a routine first appearance, but it quickly became anything but ordinary when Gibson began speaking about the violent rampage in vivid, chilling detail.

According to court reporting, Gibson made startling statements in open court that left onlookers and courtroom staff visibly shaken — including the declaration:
“I shot every one of those people in their head; they are not making it back.”
The courtroom reaction was one of disbelief as the suspect — facing first‑degree murder, multiple counts of attempted murder, and carjacking charges — made the confession in front of the judge. Prosecutors allege the violence began around 6:15 p.m. Monday inside the Azure Estates complex, where Gibson suddenly pulled a gun and began shooting several men he was sitting with. One of the victims, identified as John Halliburton III, was killed in the attack.
Following the initial shootings, Gibson’s alleged violence did not stop. According to arrest reports released Thursday morning, he continued into the street and attempted to carjack multiple drivers at gunpoint, shooting additional victims before fleeing the scene. Two of those injured drove themselves to the hospital, while another victim was critically wounded during one of the attempted carjackings.
The suspect was eventually located in St. Lucie County when authorities spotted him with the stolen vehicle and took him into custody. He is now being held without bond as the case moves forward.
During the hearing, Gibson also discussed his struggles with his mental health, at times appearing incoherent and combative with his own attorney. At one point, he claimed he was “seeing things,” a statement that prosecutors and defense counsel alike have noted as a sign of his unstable state.
The impacts of the Riviera Beach shooting have been deeply felt in the community — with one person dead and four more wounded in what began as a fight that rapidly escalated into gunfire. Police said the incident started inside a residential area and quickly spilled out into nearby streets, prompting a large emergency response and a subsequent search for the suspect that concluded with his arrest off Interstate 95.
Gibson’s courtroom outburst has now become the focus of intense discussion online and among legal observers, both for its graphic content and the unsettling manner in which it was delivered. Questions now swirl about his mental state, the role it may play in his defense, and how prosecutors will proceed with evidence in what is already a high‑profile case.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of the violence, authorities continue their investigation, and the legal process moves forward — but the chilling courtroom confession will not soon be forgotten by those who witnessed it.
