Dallas Rapper Zeethewizard Critically Injured in New Year's Day Shooting at Pink House Club

On the New Year’s Day, the Pink House Club in Northwest Dallas became the site of a tragic event where a shooting left five people injured, as reported by DFW Scanner.

One of the victims was a local Dallas rapper, Zec’qurie Cannon Grant Fields, known by his stage name Zeethewizard. Fields was in critical condition and on life support after the incident, according to a family member who spoke with WFAA. The venue, which was celebrating its grand opening as well as the New Year, suddenly became the focal point of local and national attention not for its festivities, but for the violence that erupted.

The shooting occurred during a fight at the club, though Dallas Police have not provided details about the altercation or information on a suspect. They have stated that the investigation is ongoing. Pink House Dallas, through their management, expressed cooperation with law enforcement and commitment to justice, sharing on Instagram Stories, “Pink House Dallas is fully cooperating with law enforcement and is committed to assisting authorities in every way possible as they work to identify and apprehend the individual responsible.”

Zeethewizard, part of the “New Dallas” movement and a collaborator with prominent local artists, is seen as a beacon of positivity in a music scene often marked by divisions. Known for his community involvement, Fields reportedly signed a record deal with a label run by the famous rapper Future. “He played football and basketball, and he stayed involved in youth community sports — even now as a recording artist,” Dallas Observer journalist Bryson “Boom” Paul told WFAA.

Dallas activist and musician Davante Peters recalled his own collaborations with Fields, telling WFAA, “I know he had a lot more work to do, but he definitely supported me. He wanted to see me be successful as well, and I really appreciated that.” This sentiment echoes a community’s hope for a swift recovery, one that clings to the resilience of a movement amid the despair of a senseless act.
