Princess Eugenie has been pictured for the first time since her father, the former Prince Andrew, was arrested.

The former Duke of York, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on the morning of Thursday, Feb. 19 — his 66th birthday — at the home where he is staying on King Charles’ Sandringham estate in Norfolk. He was taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office and was photographed leaving the Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk in the backseat of a vehicle around 11 hours later, PEOPLE previously reported.

Princess Eugenie, 35, had been keeping a low profile since her father’s arrest last week before she was pictured grabbing a coffee while stepping out in London alongside her husband, Jack Brooksbank, on Tuesday, Feb. 24. She was dressed down in casual attire, including a The North Face baseball cap, leggings and sneakers.

Eugenie was photographed at Hagen Espresso Bar in Notting Hill, near Portobello, chatting with a friend before returning to her car with coffee for her and her husband.

“She was chatting away with someone she knows and seemed very relaxed,” a source tells PEOPLE. “It was all very casual.”

“She was laughing and joking,” the source adds. “She looked happy and at ease — not like someone trying to hide.”

As previously reported by PEOPLE, both Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice, 37, have been focusing on their own children amid the latest development tied to scrutiny of Andrew’s relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Beatrice and Eugenie have maintained their relationships with both Andrew and their mother, Sarah Ferguson, during their Epstein-related fall from grace, inviting them to low-profile family events and spending time with them privately.

However, in the wake of their father’s arrest, a source told PEOPLE last week, “They’re trying to stay away from it. They have young children, and this is their grandfather — their focus is on protecting their own children from this.”

Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020. They share two daughters, Sienna, 4, and Athena, 1, and Mapelli Mozzi is also father to a 9-year-old son, Christopher Woolf, from a previous relationship.

Eugenie, meanwhile, married Jack in 2018, and the couple shares two sons, August, 5, and Ernest, 2.

In addition to protecting their families, the source recently told PEOPLE that the sisters are “also putting pieces of the puzzle together in real time and realizing they may have been used.”

“That has to feel like a complete betrayal. They’re heartbroken — but a dad is still your dad, and a mom is still your mom. Love for a parent isn’t a light switch. It’s an incredibly painful and introspective moment for them,” the source continued.

Andrew’s arrest came after the U.S. Department of Justice recently released thousands of pages of evidence related to their federal sex trafficking case against Epstein, who died by suicide in prison in 2019, before he could go to trial.

Included in the documents were many emails between Andrew, Ferguson and Epstein, some of which made mention of, or even included photos of, their daughters.

Among the emails, one message thread, from March 2010, saw Epstein ask Ferguson, 66, about arranging a tour of “Buckingham” led by her or one of her daughters. At the time, Beatrice and Eugenie would have been 21 and 19, respectively.

In some of the emails, Ferguson allegedly made plans to bring her daughters for lunch with Epstein. The initial exchange was dated July 27, 2009, just five days after he was released from prison after serving 13 months for soliciting a minor for prostitution and soliciting prostitution.

A week later, the former Duchess of York appeared to reference the lunch in another email, dated Aug. 3, 2009.

“I have never been more touched by a friends kindness than your compliment to me in front of my girls,” she said. “Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for.”
