New information has emerged that the missing FIFO worker ordered a taxi an hour-and-a-half after he was dropped off at Perth airport to Trigg Beach, in Perth’s Northern Suburbs.
William Carter, also known as Bill, was then last seen near the local surf club at about 2.40pm.
The 25-year-old’s mother, Jenny O’Byrne, had dropped Bill off at Perth Airport’s Terminal 3 at 12:40pm after having breakfast together.
Mr Carter was due to board a flight to his job at a job site near Karratha later that day, but never did.
Mr Carter took this selfie with his mum just hours before disappearing.
Police on Thursday revealed Mr Carter was at the airport for an hour-and-a-half before he ordered a taxi to Trigg Beach, in Perth’s northern suburbs.
9 News reports he was last seen near a surf club on West Coast Dr.
The FIFO worker’s partner Janae Williamson said that Mr Carter’s employer confirmed to her that he did not board the flight.
He was last seen at Perth Airport’s Terminal 3 on Saturday afternoon.
His loved ones are desperately searching for answers about his location.
“He’s not well, and he’s very vulnerable and at risk and we just need a lot of people to keep their eyes out,” his mother told PerthNow.
Bill Carter ordered a taxi half an hour after he was dropped off at Perth airport to Trigg Beach, in Perth’s Northern Suburbs.
“This is completely out of character for him, he has been displaying some quite bizarre behaviours, he does normally take anxiety medication but he’s been off that for about the last five months and that was a scheduled tailoring off”.
“But I think there’s been some other things that have gone on in his life, a situational crisis, and that’s so often the case in the mental health field.”
His partner is “begging” him to come home.
His mother says Bill is “ a very quiet affable chap” and has recently gone through “some challenges” and says because he is not very talkative some of those challenges have been missed.
Jenny O’Byrne told PerthNow Bill had recently returned from a family holiday to visit his father in Zambia. Picture: Supplied
“As a family we’re very supportive, I spoke to him a little bit on Saturday about what his concerns were, told him he has the full support of the family.
“We’re financially very solvent here and overseas, it’s just simply a case of when someone’s not well and they’re going through a situational crisis they don’t see the world as we would see it, they see it altered.”
A missing persons investigation is now under way, with WA Police looking into what happened to Mr Carter.
He is described as being approximately 174cm tall, of slim build, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen carrying a small backpack and wearing a black t-shirt, shorts and white sneakers.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police.
1 HOUR 30 MINUTES THAT LEFT A LIFETIME OF PAIN FOR A MOTHER**
No one could have imagined that the ordinary, almost mundane airport footage from that day would become the last images the world would ever have of Bill. And no one—not even those who crossed paths with him—knew that each passing minute of those brief 90 minutes would later become an unrelenting torment for his mother, who has replayed every frame so many times she now remembers every movement by heart.
It all begins at 00:00 — the moment Bill entered the airport. A solitary figure blending into the busy stream of passengers. None of the people who brushed past him that day had any idea they were looking at someone who would be seen for the last time within the next hour and a half.
By 00:12, Bill had moved into the main concourse. His face carried a faint sense of focus, as if searching for something… or someone. But the camera only captured silence: no clear expression, no readable intent. Just a brief pause — a stillness that felt strangely out of place amid the rush around him.

At 00:27, Bill stopped in a crowded area. People flowed past the lens, but he remained still — inexplicably, almost hauntingly — as if waiting for something that would never arrive. For his mother, this is one of the moments that cuts the deepest: “What were you waiting for, Bill? Who were you hoping to see?” But the footage offers no answers.
By 00:41, he stepped out of the line and changed direction. It was the first clear sign of hesitation. His steps were not hurried, but they carried an unmistakable shift — as though he had made a sudden decision to go somewhere else. Where that was, no one knows. And maybe that is the first mystery the cameras fail to explain.
At 00:56, another camera picked him up in the central zone. Still alone. Still quiet. No sign of panic or urgency. Yet somehow, watching from the outside, you can’t shake the feeling that Bill was drifting farther and farther away from the world around him.
At 01:12, he stopped at a less crowded spot. A strange, heavy pause amid the movement of hundreds. This is the frame his mother says “tightened her chest the most.” Her son stood there—small, blurred, solitary in the corner of a wide frame—looking like someone listening to something only he could hear.
Then came 01:25 — the last recorded movement. Bill turned, walking toward another direction, his steps light but decisive. Just a few seconds later, his silhouette slipped into a blind spot of the camera. And from that moment on… he never reappeared.
At 01:30, Bill disappeared from all CCTV.
No more images.
No more signals.
As if he walked off the edge of the world.
From that moment forward, everything went silent.
No messages.
No calls.
No sightings.
Just this timeline — the final 1 hour and 30 minutes — standing as the last thread tying Bill to the world.
His mother replays each minute, each second, believing that maybe, just maybe, she’ll catch the detail that everyone else missed. But every time the footage ends, she is brought back to the same devastating point: the exact moment Bill vanishes… and the hollow nothingness that follows.
A cold timeline.
A warm, unbearable grief.
And a question that has never found an answer.
