The court proceeding, which began with someone in the gallery screaming an expletive at the suspect, 21-year-old Tyreek Black, took an even more chaotic turn as he was led out of the courtroom.

Several people who had thronged the gallery for his arraignment tried to lunge at him past a group of about 10 judicial marshals, but they were held back and led out, with some continuing to unleash invective. New Haven police joined marshals on the courthouse steps as the crowd dispersed.
