Police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found during the search for a missing man in Victoria.

Richard, 65, was last seen on Hughes Street in Ouyen, in the state’s northwest, about 8am on Easter Sunday.

Investigators believe he may have been seen later that day driving near the Mallee Highway.

His disappearance had been described as “extremely out of character”.

A post shared by Richard’s partner appealing for information has been shared more than 200 times on social media.

A body was found at a rural property about 1.30pm on Tuesday during the search.

“While the man is yet to be formally identified, it’s believed to be that of missing person Richard who was last seen on Sunday,” police said.

Mildura Police Inspector Dave Rowe told the ABC Richard’s ute and phone were found on the property.

Detectives and members of the Major Crime Scene Unit remain at the scene, with the death being treated as suspicious.
