In 2025, there have been very few news stories involving celebrities that have garnered the amount of attention that Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal struggles have. Since it has often felt like the world has paid close attention to every revelation about the massive scandal, it may have seemed like there isn’t much more to learn about the controversy.
Despite that, observers will have the opportunity to look at the scandal through a new light as a major docuseries on the subject that is produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is set to be released on Netflix. On top of there being a lot of interest in what the docuseries will reveal, there has been even more discussion about why 50 Cent got involved in the project. After all of the rumors and conjecture, 50 Cent has finally spoken out about why he produced the Diddy docuseries.
50 Cent Clarifies That His Netflix Diddy Docuseries Is ‘Not Personal’

On December 2, 2025, Netflix will release a four-part docuseries titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning. The series is set to chronicle the rise of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ career and his fall from grace, which culminated in the rapper serving time in prison. While promotional material for the project has been released, most people know it as one thing, 50 Cent’s Diddy documentary.
In reality, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson didn’t direct Sean Combs: The Reckoning. However, he did play a pivotal role in the docuseries coming to fruition since he worked on it as an executive producer. Despite many observers making assumptions about why 50 Cent worked on the project, he recently clarified his motivations during a video uploaded to Good Morning America’s YouTube channel on December 1, 2025. In the video, 50 Cent addressed why he has feuded with Diddy for years before stating that their beef isn’t why he worked on the docuseries.
“What they consider pre-existing beef, right, for 20 years, right, is me being uncomfortable with him suggesting that he takes me shopping. I looked at it like it was like a tester. Like, maybe you’ll come play with me type of thing, right? And it’s not personal.”
Later during the video, Robin Roberts could be seen asking 50 Cent if he believed that all of hip hop culture was implicated by Diddy’s trial and the allegations the former Bad Boy Records boss faced. In response, 50 Cent further explained why he chose to work on the docuseries. As he explained during the Good Morning America interview, 50 Cent felt that if he didn’t speak up by doing something like producing the docuseries, that would send a message.
“Not ultimately. If I didn’t say anything, you would interpret it as that hip hop is fine with his behaviors. There’s no one else being vocal. So you would look at it and just say, because that mind your business, or let me not say nothing about nothing, or those things, it would allow the entire culture to register as if they’re for that behavior.”

After explaining why he chose to be involved in the Diddy docuseries, 50 Cent ended his remarks by stating his belief that the Netflix show is fair. While discussing Sean Combs: The Reckoning, 50 Cent described how he thinks Diddy will react if he ever watches the docuseries.
“’Wow, this is amazing.’ I think he’s going to say, ‘This is the best documentary I’ve seen in a long time.’ Because you’ll see people saying that. I mean, he might feel a different way about pieces and bits of it, but he knows the truth. I think he’ll see the truth in it.”
