The upcoming A&E project follows the Curtis Jackson-produced doc, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released last year

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is kicking off the new year with his latest project, this time collaborating with A&E for a true-crime series titled Gang Wars.

The rapper-producer confirmed the news on Tuesday evening, simply writing in an Instagram post: “Gang Wars coming soon A&E I got some heat.” Jackson also shared a screenshot of an article by Parade, which cites a report by Deadline that Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television and Jonah Bekhor and Jonas Bell Pasht’s Citizen Jones are working together on the upcoming project. Deadline describes the series as an “unfiltered” look into “America’s most infamous gang rivalries with unprecedented access and never-before-heard accounts.” A release date for the series has yet to be revealed.

The announcement arrives on the heels of Sean Combs: The Reckoning, a four-part documentary released in December about the imprisoned music mogul that was executive produced by Jackson. Directed by Alexandria Stapleton, the project streamed on Netflix and dug into Combs’ life and career, his success in the music industry, and how abuse allegations leveled by his ex, Cassie, led to a wave of accusations and a criminal trial that landed Combs in prison.

Combs has threatened to sue Netflix for airing the docuseries in a cease-and-desist letter that claimed The Reckoning used “stolen footage.”  In a previous statement provided to Rolling Stone, Janice Combs, the mother of Combs, said the docuseries contained “inaccuracies” and was “intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation.”

G-Unit, which was founded by Jackson, has also backed recent docs TikTok Star Murders and The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets for Peacock, and Hip Hop Homicides for WE TV.
