Magda SzubanskiĀ has revealed she’s in remission after completing chemotherapy for a rare type of cancer. TheĀ Aussie iconĀ has been battling stage four Mantle cell lymphoma, which is an aggressive and rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

TheĀ 64-year-oldĀ has been keeping herĀ fans up to date with how her healthĀ has been during that journey and she had some wonderful news for everyone on Friday. Magda thanked everyone for their well wishes in the past few months.

“I’ve completed chemo and I am now in remission,” she said.

“Phew, big relief. It’s not a cure, but because I got a good remission, that hopefully means that I will keep the cancer at bay for a good long time.

She described the love and support from her fans as a “tsunami” that kept her going through some of the toughest times.

“I swear to God, it helped me not only emotionally, I think it really helped me physically, too,” she said.

“I felt so loved up and cared for.

“Also, eternal gratitude to my medical team. We have the most incredible medical people in this country.

“We’re so lucky. And there’s not a day goes by that I don’t give like profound thanks to the medical community.”

She also joked about the social media claims that she had already died.

Some accounts in the past had created fake fundraisers for the 64-year-old, while others brazenly suggested she had passed away.

“Seems I’m not dead,” she said to the camera. “Better check with social media, because that knows more about me than I do.”

While she is now in remission, she has warned fans about physical boundaries if they see her in public.

Magda explained that her immune system is still fragile after all the chemotherapy and fighting the cancer and, as a result, she has to keep her distance for now.

“Please be careful,” she said.

“I can’t hug. I can’t do the hugging. Because the thing is, this is on behalf of me and all people going through cancer, when you’re going through the chemo, you’re completely immune-annihilated.

“Even in the maintenance phase, which is where I am now, you’re still immunocompromised.

“So, we’re not being precious. And I would love to hug you [but] I can’t. Because what’s a sniffle for you could, really, maybe kill me. Just saying.”
