Iconic actress Vivica A. Fox has never shied away from telling her truth. And, she proved she’s still one of the most refreshingly candid voices in entertainment.
The Set It Off and Independence Day star is once again reflecting on her early-2000s romance with 50 Cent, a relationship that burned fast, bright, and — as Fox puts it — “fat.”

Yes, Fox unleashed the word fat on rapt audience.
The comment arrived with the kind of gleeful shock only Fox can deliver, reminding audiences why she remains a magnetic talk-show guest decades into her career. But behind the laughter, the star also opened up about the lessons learned from a love affair that has outlasted its headlines by more than 20 years.
A viral moment two decades in the making
Appearing on “Sherri,” Fox revisited the now-viral clip from last month’s Chicago Ultimate Women’s Expo, where she dispensed advice to females in attendance:
“Don’t date 50 Cent and don’t date no damn rappers!”
It was a line meant to be playful — maybe even protective — but the Internet being the Internet, it ignited a fresh round of buzz. 50 Cent jumped into the conversation himself with trademark wit, and suddenly the public found itself revisiting a love story it hadn’t discussed this much since flip phones were still a thing.
Fox insists the comment came not from bitterness, but from honest retrospection.
“That was me just like, ‘I wish I knew,’” she told Shepherd. “Not to go public so fast, not to have it out there, not to have the breakup that’s lasted 22 years.“
But in true Vivica fashion, she quickly reminded the audience she wasn’t condemning all rappers.
The audience roared with laughter when Fox, who appropriately starred in the classic comedy Booty Call, added, “I didn’t say you couldn’t play with him.”

From feuding to peace — and a matrix joke or two
Fifty, never one to miss a comedic opening, responded to Fox’s comments with Instagram posts riffing on her mention of the “blue pill,” a reference to the couple’s years-old Matrix back-and-forth. Fox loved it.
“We are in a good place,” she confirmed — a significant shift from the icy public exchanges the pair once traded in the mid-2000s. Their relationship may not have endured, but its legacy has mellowed into something that resembles mutual respect… with a healthy side of flirtatious trolling.
Then came the line destined for celebrity-quote immortality.
“Oh my goodness. The orgasms were fat.”
The audience howled. Shephard lost it. And somewhere, undoubtedly, 50 Cent grinned.
A love story that won’t quit — even if they did
Fox admits that no matter how much time passes, some romances leave permanent fingerprints.
“You always got that one that you always got a little special place for,” she said. For her, 50 is that one — complicated, electric, unforgettable.
He wasted no time leaning into the moment. After Fox doubled down on her comments during a TMZ sidewalk chat, he fired off another pair of Instagram posts. One featured a blue pill with a smiley face. The other joked, “You ain’t gonna believe this man, but she tried to turn me out… I just got on.”
Two decades later, they’re still in sync — different paths, same chemistry.
The legacy of a pop-culture romance
In an industry full of curated narratives, Fox’s willingness to revisit her past with humor and honesty feels almost radical. She owns her part in the whirlwind, acknowledges the missteps, celebrates the highs and laughs at the rest.
And if there’s one thing Vivica A. Fox has made crystal clear, it’s this:
With some love stories — well, the orgasms are just too “fat” to forget.
