Agatha Christie fans are in for a treat at the start of 2026 as Netflix has just confirmed the release date for its three-part adaptation of the Seven Dials.

With an all-star cast that sees Helena Bonham Carter step into the shoes of Lady Caterham and Martin Freeman portray The Responder, it looks like a murder mystery that’s not to be missed when it drops on the streaming platform on January 15.

The trailer aptly begins with a sundial and a dead body and builds up the suspense to a scene in a country house, where a man declares: ‘Someone in this room knows more than they are telling us.’

The show’s official synopsis reads: ‘England. 1925. At a lavish country house party, a practical joke appears to have gone horribly, murderously wrong.

‘It will be up to the unlikeliest of sleuths – the fizzingly inquisitive Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent – to unravel a chilling plot that will change her life, cracking wide open the country house mystery.

‘A witty, epic and fast-paced drama from the Queen Of Crime, Agatha Christie, is brought to life in a thrilling new version for Netflix.’

Agatha Christie fans were quick to take to the comments section of the trailer to share their excitement about the impending release.

They wrote: ‘This has the potential to be amazing. What a great cast.’;

‘This is what i call a trailer.’;

‘One word: excited!’;

‘I am so happy to see more of Agatha Christie’s novels brought to life. I can’t wait to see this.’;

‘I can’t wait for this. I love the character of Bundle, and I hope they capture how funny she is and don’t make her too serious.’;

‘Can’t wait to watch this. Mrs Marple aka Helena Bonham Carter is going to rock it.’;

‘I’d watch this for Helena Bonham Carter. In the book her character only has small part, but I’d take every bit of HBC I can get.’

Viewers have been quick to praise the casting and some have shared their hopes that it will lead to more adaptations of Agatha Christie’s work

One fan even suggested that if the series is a success, it could open the door to more Agatha Christie adaptations.

They wrote: ‘If this works, they could get another story out of the Bundle character (Secret of Chimneys) and another three (?) I think, with Martin Freeman’s SI Battle.’

However, some fans were a little more reserved with their reactions to the trailer.

They wrote: ‘If it wasn’t for the fact that there hasn’t been a reasonable Agatha Christie interpretation since 2013, I would perhaps be excited.

‘Well, let’s hope for the best, at least the production quality looks reasonable.’;

‘Let’s hope they haven’t murdered the story in making this.’;

‘This better be good. I’ve seen [every] version of an Agatha Christie movie/show and consider myself an expert.’

The Seven Dials Mystery was originally published back in 1929 and was set in London in the same decade.

Several of Agatha Christie’s novels have been adapted for television over the years, including Towards Zero, which was adapted by the BBC this year.

Another recent adaptation is Murder is Easy, which was also adapted by the BBC and released in 2023.

Seven Dials will be available to stream on Netflix from January 15.
