On the night of November 6, 2020, the rap world was rocked — King Von (real name Dayvon Bennett), 26, was fatally shot outside the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta. What began as an argument turned into chaos: multiple people opened fire, six were wounded, and by the end of the night two people were dead, including King Von.
Less than 24 hours later, police arrested 22‑year-old Timothy Leeks (also known by his rap name “Lul Timm”) and charged him with felony murder for Von’s death. At the time, authorities said the homicide case was “closed with this arrest.”

📍 What Happened That Night
According to police and surveillance footage, a confrontation erupted between King Von’s group and another group linked to associates of Quando Rondo. The fight escalated quickly into an exchange of gunfire in the parking lot — shots coming from both sides. Investigators say Von was struck during that initial volley, before any police involvement.
Three people died overall, including King Von. Others were wounded, and some injuries came from return fire by off-duty officers present at the lounge.
Leeks was one of those wounded. After he was released from hospital care, he was booked into Fulton County Jail.
🧾 The Charges and Legal Moves
In the initial aftermath, Leeks was denied bond and held on murder charges.
In March 2021, he managed to post a $100,000 bond.
For years the case lingered — unsettled, bitter, controversial. King Von’s legacy, his grieving fans and family, and the broader rap community kept the story alive.
But on August 20, 2023, a massive twist: prosecutors dropped the felony murder charge against Leeks. According to his lawyer, he was never formally indicted; the case was dismissed.
That means legally, the man once accused of killing King Von is no longer facing murder charges related to Von’s death.
😞 Fallout, Frustration, and Questions
The decision triggered uproar from many corners:
Fans and followers of King Von expressed anger and disappointment. Some accused prosecutors of failing justice.
Close associates — including Von’s ex‑girlfriend — publicly questioned the ruling, accusing the system of favouring the suspect.
The uncertainty over who exactly fired the fatal shots has rekindled debates about violence in hip‑hop, accountability, and whether justice was truly served.
Meanwhile, Leeks — having “beaten” the case — continued with his life. He reportedly dropped a new song soon after the charges were dropped, seemingly referencing his legal “victory.”
⚠️ What’s Still Unknown
The true identity of who fired the fatal rounds hasn’t been publicly confirmed.
Investigators said the shooting involved return fire from off-duty police officers — making it unclear whether some victims were hit by suspects, police, or ricochets.
With the murder charge dismissed, many fear the real story may never come to light.
🤔 Why This Matters
King Von was not just a rapper — he was a rising star, a voice for many, a symbol of ambition and survival. His sudden death shocked the music world. The arrest of Leeks brought hope for justice. But now, with charges dropped, that hope feels fractured.
The case reflects bigger issues:
The difficulty of pursuing justice in chaotic shootouts.
The strain between street violence, fame, and legal systems.
The emotional toll on families, fans, and culture when justice seems uncertain.
For some, this is a painful reminder that sometimes, even when a suspect is arrested, the truth — and justice — may never come.
