An Aussie ISIS bride accused of being a slave driver allegedly kept a teenage captive who was then repeatedly raped by her father, a court has heard.
Zeinab Ahmad, 31, is facing two counts of crimes against humanity, including enslavement and using a slave.
She applied for bail in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday but her arrival was delayed after a prison van failed to deliver her to court on time.
It is alleged she knowingly kept a female slave in the family home and exercised ownership over her while in Syria.
The prosecution alleges Ahmad and her mother Kawsar Abbas, 54, were part of a ‘widespread or systematic attack directed against a civilian population’, namely the Yazidi people, under Islamic State rule.
On Thursday, Detective Senior Constable Marc Clendenning told the court Ahmad had forced her family’s young slave to clean the home while being routinely raped by her father.
The court heard Australian Federal Police commenced an investigation into the activities of the Melbourne-based Ahmad family in November 2017.
Three years earlier, ISIS had declared a caliphate and rapidly expanded control over large areas of Iraq and Syria.

The court heard ISIS ideology was based on an extreme interpretation of Islam and explicitly promoted violent jihad, including slavery.
It was alleged the slave was taken to the Ahmad household by her previous owner in June 2017 for inspection before being purchased two days later for US$10,000.
Det Clendenning alleged Ms Ahmad slept in the same bedroom as the captive, where she also allegedly kept a Glock pistol.
‘She ordered [the slave] to perform domestic labour, including serving her and making her undertake cleaning within the house,’ he said.
The prosecution alleged Ms Ahmad helped keep the captive hostage, saying she actively participated in ‘her deprivation of human rights’.
‘Such behaviour and actions are consistent with being a member of, or closely aligned with, Islamic State as detailed in propaganda, ideology and statements in relation to having a slave,’ the court was told.
The court heard Mohammad Ahmad – Ahmad’s father – routinely assaulted the girl, punching and dragging her down two flights of stairs on one occasion.
Det Clendenning said the girl was told two days after she was ‘purchased’ exactly what she was in for.

Kawsar Abbas is also accused of being an ISIS slaver
‘I bought you for sex and housework,’ she was told.
The court heard the girl told police Mohammad Ahmad – who is now in a Syrian prison – allegedly attempted to sexually assault her within the first month.
The court heard she attempted to fight off the alleged attacker but was overpowered.
‘She shouted as loud as she could on each occasion,’ Mr Clendenning said.
The court heard the entire family, including Ahmad, had been present in the home when the attacks happened.
‘(She) stated they would have heard her shouting on many occasions,’ the detective said.
Graphic details of the alleged rapes were aired in court.
After one rape, Mohammad allegedly quipped: ‘I am finished and my sperm covered your body,’ the court heard.

The slave later claimed Ahmad had acted ‘like a deputy’ in the household, the court heard.
She was allegedly held by the Ahmad family for more than a year before being passed to another captor because she was deemed a ‘bad’ slave.
The court heard she had been owned by 17 different ISIS members since she was captured as a 16-year-old.
The court heard a detailed account of the terrorist organisation’s rise to power, including its coordinated attack on Yazidi communities in northern Iraq.
During the 2014 attack, ISIS killed thousands of Yazidi men and captured, raped and sexually enslaved thousands of Yazidi women and girls.
At the height of its power, ISIS operated a formal system of slavery where slaves were sold, gifted, or traded.
The court heard Mohammad Ahmad departed Melbourne for Istanbul in 2013 and never returned to Australia.
Before his departure, he had been involved in establishing the charity Global Humanitarian Aid.

The charity claimed to collect donations for Syrian refugees, ran community events and worked with a Turkish charity to deliver aid.
However, authorities suspected the charity helped facilitate the family’s travel from Australia into Syria.
The court heard Ahmad left Melbourne on November 4, 2014, stating she intended to spend seven months in Turkey.
Authorities believe she and her husband arrived in Syria in January 2015.
By 2015, police allege Ahmad was active on social media, posting ‘blackness and dust will cover the disbelievers.’
The court heard she posted content justifying the capture and killing of a Jordanian pilot by ISIS.
Over the following months, Ahmad allegedly posted repeatedly to social media condemning the United States and its allies.
She said Islamic State would continue to expand and ‘destroy the United States and its allies’, according to the court.

The court heard Ahmad’s husband was killed during the conflict, writing in a note before his death that he was a ‘martyr’.
‘This was his dream,’ she wrote in one tribute.
The mother of three was among a group of women with alleged ties to ISIS who flew into Australia on May 7 before being arrested and charged with crimes against humanity.
The hearing continues.
