A weekend trip to Tacoma that was meant to be a night out with friends ended in a devastating tragedy — one that investigators say was the result of a carefully orchestrated setup.

According to police and court records, 27-year-old Hector Gonzalez-Jimenez had traveled from Oregon to Tacoma for the weekend. During the trip, he reportedly visited a local strip club where he met a dancer identified as Ashley Danielle Arrieta. What seemed like a casual interaction quickly escalated into plans for a private meeting later that night.

Investigators say Gonzalez-Jimenez sent Arrieta $1,500 through Zelle after she agreed to meet him at a nearby hotel for a private encounter. The two reportedly arranged to meet at a room inside the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tacoma Downtown.

But prosecutors later revealed that the meeting was allegedly never what Gonzalez-Jimenez believed it to be.

Authorities claim that after receiving the payment, Arrieta signaled her boyfriend, Jamari Khayelle Webb. According to investigators, Webb arrived shortly afterward, armed and intending to rob the victim.

What began as a robbery quickly spiraled into violence.

Police say Webb entered the hotel room and confronted Gonzalez-Jimenez. During the encounter, the victim reportedly attempted to defend himself as the situation escalated. Prosecutors allege that Webb then brutally attacked him — beating him before ultimately shooting him inside the hotel room.

By the time authorities arrived, Gonzalez-Jimenez had died from his injuries.

The brutal killing left investigators searching for answers — but crucial evidence at the scene soon helped detectives piece together the timeline of events.

Surveillance footage from the hotel captured key movements around the building that night. Investigators also recovered a shoe left behind at the scene, which helped connect Webb to the crime. Another unexpected piece of evidence — a Safeway receipt — also helped detectives track the suspects’ movements before and after the attack.

Using this evidence, along with digital records and witness statements, authorities were able to identify both suspects and build a case against them.

Police eventually arrested Arrieta and Webb, and both were later convicted in connection with the killing.

For Gonzalez-Jimenez’s family and friends, the loss was devastating. What began as a simple weekend trip ended in an unimaginable tragedy that no one saw coming.

Investigators say the case serves as a chilling reminder of how quickly situations can turn dangerous when robbery and deception are involved.

Today, the story of Hector Gonzalez-Jimenez remains a heartbreaking example of a life cut short by violence.

Rest in peace. 💔
