A Mazda had to be towed from a beach after an allegedly drunk driver crashed through a guard rail, careered down an embankment and ended up on the sand.

The 32-year-old woman, who police say was allegedly double the legal limit had a lucky escape as the wooden rail went through the windscreen at Aldinga Beach, south of Adelaide.
