rince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, faced a question over the future of the monarchy as they attended the BAFTAs.
On Sunday night, the Prince and Princess of Wales stepped out in London for the star-studded film awards.
It comes just days after William’s disgraced uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on February 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The specific details of the allegations of misconduct being investigated are unknown.
He has since been released under investigation.
But, as William and Catherine stepped out on Sunday evening, they couldn’t avoid the scandal currently surrounding the monarchy.

Prince William and Princess Kate face monarchy question at BAFTAs
As the Prince and Princess of Wales walked along the red carpet on Sunday, one reporter was heard shouting out: “Your Royal Highnesses, is the monarchy in peril?”
It’s unclear if the Prince and Princess of Wales heard the question. But they ignored it and continued to walk the carpet.
Last week, upon Andrew’s arrest, King Charles issued a statement. It’s believed the Prince and Princess of Wales supported the message.

The king made his stance on the matter clear, saying about the police: “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

Prince William admits he’s ‘not in a calm state’
At Sunday’s BAFTAs, the Prince of Wales also made a rather sad confession amid the Andrew turmoil.
According to reports, Prince William revealed that he hadn’t yet watched the 2025 movie Hamnet.
Your Royal Highnesses, is the monarchy in peril?
Hamnet dramatises the family life of William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes Hathaway, as they deal with the death of their young son, Hamnet.
Prince William said of the film: “I need to be in quite a calm state and I’m not at the moment. I will save it.”
It comes days after his uncle Andrew was arrested by police in Sandringham.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrest
Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
For some time, scrutiny has been mounting over Andrew and his links to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Last month, the US Department of Justice released more than three million files relating to the disgraced financier.
Following the release of files, Andrew faced allegations that he shared sensitive and confidential documents with Epstein during his time as a UK trade envoy.
He served as a UK trade envoy between 2001 and 2011. In 2010, according to emails in the files, Andrew allegedly forwarded official reports from trade visits to Epstein.
Under official guidance, trade envoys have a duty of confidentiality over sensitive, commercial, or political information.
Royal Insider previously contacted representatives for Andrew for comment on these allegations.
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. This arrest should not be seen as any indication of guilt and there are no charges yet.
