Their path becomes more difficult when “a birth mother becomes hesitant.” The story also moves ahead from the Season 6 finale and opens with “the unsettling mystery of pregnant Charmaine’s disappearance,” after her home is found “ransacked,” pointing to possible involvement from dangerous local forces and even “a character long presumed dead.
