A second child has died in hospital after a tragic car crash west of Melbourne.
The 4WD with seven children inside ran off the road and rolled at the intersection of Nerowie Rd and Parwan-Exford Rd in Parwan about 4pm on Tuesday.
Emergency services raced to the scene and worked desperately to save a seven-year-old girl, but she died at the scene.
Another child, an 11-year-old boy, was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.
Tragically, police confirmed he had died overnight.
The other five children were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries alongside the driver, a 34-year-old woman, who is under observation.
7NEWS understands the children were being carpooled home from school at the time of the crash.

Car stolen by armed gang during home invasion
A man has been injured and his car stolen during a horror home invasion in Adelaide.
Police received reports of a group of men “suspiciously” loading property from one car to another along Port Wakefield Rd, Dry Creek, about 3.15am on Wednesday.
Officers arrived to find an abandoned grey Holden Commodore sedan which led them back to the car owner’s home about 10km north on International Ave in Salisbury North.
The owner was found at the home with facial injuries suffered during a break-in and assault just hours prior.
Inquiries suggest four armed men entered his home and assaulted the man before stealing his car, phone and other property.
He was taken to hospital for treatment on non-life threatening injuries while his was car towed away for forensic examination.
“Although the investigation is in its early stages, police do not believe this to be a random incident,” police said.

A manhunt is underway after a man was shot on the NSW Central Coast.
Emergency services were called to Lakedge Ave, near Kingsford Smith Rd, in Berkeley Vale about 6.15am on Wednesday after reports of a shooting.
A 37-year-old man was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to his hand and torso.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
Police are appealing to speak with the driver of a of a silver GWM 4WD ute with roof raks and a roll bar spotted in the area at the time of the shooting.
Anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers or Tuggerah Lakes Police.
Second man charged after alleged shooting
A second man has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged shooting in Brisbane.
Investigations were launched after a 24-year-old man was found on Centre St in Aspley with two gunshot wounds and rushed to hospital in a serious condition about 10.40pm on August 25.
Weeks later, on Tuesday, a 25-year-old man was arrested at a home in Griffin, about 13km north of the initial incident.
He was charged with one count of attempted murder and will appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
It comes after police arrested a 33-year-old man Richards Rd in Narangba on August 28. He remains before the courts.
Man killed in violent car and truck crash
A man has been found dead metres from his car after a horror crash with a truck.
The vehicles crashed on the Peninsular Link near Frankston-Dandenong Rd in Carrum Downs, southeast Melbourne, about 3..20am on Wednesday.
Emergency services raced to the scene and found no one inside the car.
Police searched the nearby area and found a man dead nearby. He is yet to be identified.
The truck driver stopped after the crash and was uninjured.
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are at the scene to determine what caused the crash.
Commuters have been warned the southbound lane along the Peninsular link between Thompsons and Dandenong Rds will remain closed during investigations.

Trio charged after alleged kebab shop stabbing
Three men have been charged after an alleged brawl and stabbing outside of a kebab shop in southwest Sydney.
The trio, two aged 23 and one aged 18, independently attended Canterbury Hospital which alerted police about 12.30am on Monday.
They were all taken to separate hospital across Sydney as initial inquiries allege the men were involved in an altercation outside of a fast-food outlet on the corner of Canterbury Rd and Fore St just after midnight the same day.
The two 23-year-old men were released from hospital and into police custody on Tuesday.
One of the men was charged with reckless wounding, assault in company of others and affray.
The other was also charged with affray and a single count of allegedly being armed with intent to commit indictable offence.
The teenager is still in hospital under police guard but was also charged with reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, driving with a suspended licence and not displaying L-plates as a learner driver.
The trio will appear before Burwood Local Court on Wednesday.
Teen charged after alleged high-speed pursuit and crash
A teenager has been accused of leading police on a high-speed pursuit which ended in an airborne crash in Sydney’s west.
Police attempted to stop the Mercedes AMG before it allegedly took off at speed along the Hume Hwy about 2am on Wednesday.
The sedan then hit a roundabout on Bigge St in Liverpool and was launched into the air, slamming into the top of another car before sliding onto other parked vehicles.
Police said a 67-year-old woman was trapped in the other car for “some time” before being freed and taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The alleged driver of the sedan, a 19-year-old man, was uninjured and subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result for cocaine. The result will undergo further testing.
He was charged with several alleged driving offences, including: P2 driver speeding 45km/h above the speed limit, reckless driving, not stopping for police and driving while disqualified.
He is expected to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday where police will allege he was driving at 120km/h in a 70km/h zone.
Charges are yet to be laid and investigations remain ongoing.
Second man charged after alleged assault
A second man will front court accused of assaulting and hospitalising a man at his home.
Police allege three men, aged 19, 36 and 63, and a 36-year-old woman confronted another 36-year-old man at his home on Ingham Ave, Five Dock, about 8pm on Sunday.
All parties are believed to be known to each other and involved in an altercation which resulted in the teenager and occupant of the home being rushed to hospital.
Police arrested the 36-year-old and 63-year-old men at the home before, the younger of which was charged with affray and destroy or damage property.
He appeared before Burwood Local Court on Tuesday and was granted strict conditional bail.
The occupant of the home was also released from hospital on Tuesday and taken into police custody where he was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
He will appear before the same court on Wednesday.
The teenager remains in hospital in a stable condition.
