Lindsay Clancy broke down in court as the haunting 911 audio of her now-ex-husband discovering their three dead children played in a Massachusetts courtroom on Wednesday.
The mother, who is paralyzed from the waist down after a botched suicide attempt, was seen with her head in her hands as she sobbed. Audio from the call was barred from being released to the public after Patrick Clancy’s request to restrict graphic evidence was granted.
This isn’t the first time Lindsay Clancy has been emotional in court. On Monday, she began crying while seeing photos and videos of her playing with her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan, at a water park just days before she allegedly strangled them with exercise bands.
Reporters from inside the courtroom released a disturbing transcript of the call, as Patrick Clancy found his then-wife lying in their backyard after she jumped out of the window of their second-floor bedroom.
“Lindsay, wake up,” someone was heard saying. “Lindsay, look at me. Say my name.”

As sirens were heard in the background, Patrick Clancy is heard telling someone, “I need you to stay and go check on my kids,” according to the transcript.
Soon, yelling is heard on the audio, according to the transcript, with someone yelling, “She killed the Kids! Oh my God!”
Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, put his hand on her back to comfort her as the jury was led out of the courtroom for a recess.
The defense is arguing that Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis when she strangled her children. Her lawyers claim that she wasn’t legally in control of her actions and isn’t guilty of murder.
Attorneys on both sides revealed that the mother had been prescribed at least 15 psychiatric drugs from November 2022 to the day of the killings in January 2023. Patrick Clancy said his wife had developed severe anxiety following the birth of their third child, Callan.
By December 2022, Lindsay Clancy had devolved into a “big spiral” after starting to take the antipsychotic medication Seroquel, Patrick Clancy said.
“She started to say she was suicidal” and “described thoughts of hurting the kids or them having some sort of ailment,” the father said, though he testified that Clancy promised that she didn’t have a plan to harm the children.

Reddington presented Lindsay Clancy as a dedicated nurse and mother who “tried very hard to get the help she needed.” Clancy was a labor-and-delivery nurse who named her oldest child, Cora, after the first baby she delivered at work, Reddington said in his opening statement on Monday.
“This is a woman who did nothing in her life but dedicated her life to helping people and be a good person and a good nurse and a great mother,” he said.
However, Clancy suffered from postpartum depression after giving birth and was prescribed dozens of medications by at least three different doctors, he said. “This was a woman that was suffering from psychosis at the time that she went down to that basement,” said Reddington.
“She had no motive. She loved her children. She intended to kill herself. She didn’t fake that.”
