Prince William and Princess Catherine have never met Princess Lilibet, a new royal book has claimed. Writing in his newly released book, William & Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story, the Daily Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers shared that, although they have not met Lilibet, the couple did send a card and gift to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their daughter’s birth in 2021.

Lilibet, who was just days away from her first birthday, travelled to the UK with Harry, Meghan and her brother, Prince Archie, to attend celebrations for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. During the visit, Lilibet is believed to have met her great-grandmother, the late Queen, and her paternal grandfather, now King Charles.

It has now been reported that Lilibet, who will celebrate her fifth birthday later this year, did not get a chance to meet her uncle and aunt during the visit.

Myers wrote: “As Harry and Meghan welcomed the birth of their daughter Lilibet on 4 June 2021, William and Catherine sent a gift and a card of congratulations – although that would be the extent of their contact.

“On 4 June, Harry and Meghan threw a small birthday party for their daughter’s first birthday, creating an opportunity for the Queen to meet her great-granddaughter for the first time.”

Explaining why Catherine and William did not meet Lilibet during her one-and-only visit to the UK, he added: “Despite the warmth extended to the monarch, the Sussexes did not meet William and Catherine – relations between the couples remained incredibly fractured.”

Unlike Lilibet, William and Catherine met Archie at Meghan and Harry’s former UK home, Frogmore Cottage, shortly after his birth in May 2019.

It has been reported that the couple’s three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – were not present for the meeting.

Although they did not meet Lilibet, the couple did send public birthday wishes in honour of Lilibet’s first birthday. Taking to X on June 4, 2022, the couple wrote: “Wishing a very happy birthday to Lilibet, turning one today!” followed by a balloon emoji.
