The Husband’s Chilling Testimony Has Made the Lindsay Clancy Case Even More Disturbing
Lindsay Clancy claimed she heard “a man’s voice” on the day she strangled her three children to death, according to her ex-husband.
“She said she heard a man’s voice telling her that if she didn’t do it now, she would lose her chance – or something like that.”
Patrick Clancy noted that his wife had never previously mentioned hearing a man’s voice, nor had she expressed any desire to harm or kill their children.
During Monday’s testimony, Patrick Clancy revealed that his former wife had confided in him about experiencing suicidal and “intrusive thoughts” regarding harming their children around December 2022. He stated he had no concerns for their safety at that time, as Lindsay Clancy showed no “any intention” of acting on those thoughts.

On January 24, 2023, Patrick Clancy returned home after running errands to find the house unusually silent. He opened the basement door and called out to his family, but was met with no response.
He attempted to reach his then-wife by phone, but she did not pick up, he testified.
Patrick Clancy searched for his family on the upper floor, checking the children’s rooms and the bathrooms. “I thought maybe they were taking baths, but there was no one there,” he said.

The father then made his way to the bedroom he shared with his wife, noting that the door was locked, “and that’s when I knew something was wrong,” he said. Patrick Clancy discovered his wife lying face-up in their backyard after she had jumped from their second-floor bedroom.
“She had deep cuts on her wrists, and she had a red line across her neck,” he said. “I wasn’t sure what it was at first, but she cut her neck.”
Upon asking Lindsay Clancy what had occurred, she responded, “I tried to kill myself.”
Patrick Clancy then asked about the whereabouts of their children, and she told him they were in the basement, he testified.
At no point did Lindsay Clancy indicate that the children were hurt or in need of assistance. Patrick Clancy contacted 911, and once emergency responders arrived, he rushed to the basement.
The troubling 911 audio recording was played for the courtroom, but was prohibited from public release following the judge’s approval of Patrick Clancy’s request to restrict graphic evidence from being made available. Lindsay Clancy sat with her head in her hands, sobbing throughout.

A transcript made available by reporters present in the courtroom outlined the horrifying discovery the father encountered in his home’s basement. With sirens audible in the background, Patrick Clancy is documented telling someone, “I need you to stay and go check on my kids,” according to the transcript.
Shortly after, screaming can be heard on the recording, according to the transcript, with someone shouting, “She killed the Kids! Oh my God!” Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer, Kevin Reddington, placed his hand on her back to console her as jurors were escorted from the courtroom for a break.
This wasn’t the first instance the mother had displayed emotion in court. On Monday, she wept as jurors viewed videos and photographs of her playing in a swimming pool with her children mere days before they were fatally strangled.
