A horrific house fire broke out just after midnight on Monday in Melbourne’s southwest, turning a happy family home into ashes, claiming the life of a 3-year-old boy, and leaving his biological father fighting for his life in a deep coma. Authorities are actively investigating a suspected e-scooter explosion that occurred just moments before the ferocious flames engulfed the residence.

The heartbreaking incident took place at a home on Newbury Street in the suburb of Werribee, Melbourne. While the family was fast asleep, a blaze suddenly erupted and rapidly consumed the entire space. At that time, young Jordan Dashwood, 3, was in the living room with the family’s two dogs. Due to the rapid spread and intense heat of the fire, the poor toddler and the two pets became completely trapped inside and could not be saved.

During the breathless moment of life and death, Jordan’s 11-year-old brother managed a miraculous escape by jumping from a window. As soon as he realized his youngest son was still trapped inside, his father, Jeremy Dashwood, 40, desperately tried to rush back into the sea of fire in a frantic attempt to save his own flesh and blood. However, the father’s efforts were in vain against the brutal heat of the flames. Jeremy suffered serious burns and was immediately rushed by emergency crews to Alfred Hospital, where he currently remains in a coma.

The boy’s grandmother, Tracie Long, tearfully shared that the fire was simply too hot for anyone to get in or take a single step inside. The family has been left entirely devastated by this immense loss. Painfully remembering her late grandson, Tracie said: “I just miss that little man already. He’s so precious. He was so delightful. He was a bubble of energy. He was everything”.

Emergency crews and firefighters rushed to the scene immediately upon receiving the call. After over an hour of battling the fierce blaze, emergency teams successfully brought the fire under control at around 1:15 AM.

Currently, the official cause of the catastrophic fire remains under active police investigation. However, a crucial clue has emerged as Tracie Long revealed that Jordan’s mother heard a loud bang just before the fire broke out. Forensic investigators are carefully examining the scene to determine whether a family e-scooter may have played a role in triggering the explosion that sparked the tragedy.

The sudden passing of little angel Jordan Dashwood has left a wave of profound grief not only within his family but also across the local community. Numerous heartfelt condolences, prayers, and words of support have been shared on social media for the Dashwood family, offering strength as they navigate an unimaginable heartbreak that no parent should ever have to face.
