A remote town in Tasmania has been rocked by the tragic deaths of a married couple in their home, in what police believe to be a murder-suicide.
Emergency services found the bodies of the man and woman in the home at a property in Native Corners Road in Campania, a town with just 1000 people about 40 minutes from Hobart, on Friday morning.
Police say they believe the man killing his wife before taking his own life.

“A male person appears to have ended his own life and the female resident received injuries causing her death,” Tasmania Police Detective Inspector David Gill told reporters.
“Investigations thus far have indicated that it is a family violence case and we are treating this as a murder-suicide.”
Detective Inspector Gill said the dead man had contacted a close family member who in turn alerted authorities.
He described the scene as “extremely confronting” for the first responders who attended.

It has been reported that the pair were a married couple who were both aged in their 60s.
“We believe the deaths occurred shortly after the triple-0 call was made to Tasmania Police,” he said.
“Out of respect to the family members, and due to the nature of the investigation, I won’t go into much detail.”
