THE FIGHT AGAINST THE “FAME-HUNTER”: Victim’s sister vows to stop Mackenzie Shirilla from becoming the “next Gypsy Rose”!
CONVICTED killer Mackenzie Shirilla could face a bitter battle for fame if she is ever released – as she is already plotting how to turn her crimes into celebrity status, according to the sister of one of her victims.
Shirilla was just 17 when she plowed into a building in Ohio and ended the lives of her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend, Davion Flanagan.

She was sentenced to 15 years to life in 2023 after a judge described her as “hell on wheels” following a bench trial.
Now, her case is back in the spotlight with the success of the true crime documentary, The Crash, on Netflix.
Jail calls revealed her sick plot to try to become a household name if she ever wins on appeal or gets parole, but Dominic’s sister, Christine, says her family will do everything in their power to stop her.
“A few weeks ago, after hearing the jail calls where she boasts about getting famous, I sat down during my podcast, Big Sister Unhinged, and thought: ‘Over my dead body will I allow her to be the next Gypsy Rose,’” she told The U.S. Sun.

“She wants to get out, get rich, and get famous off of this tragedy.”
Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2015 after the stabbing death of her mother following years of abuse.
She was sentenced to 10 years in prison and released on parole in December 2023.
Similar to Shirilla, her case spurred a Hulu series, films, and documentaries, as she became a celebrity.
Speaking about Shirilla, Gypsy told TMZ, “I don’t think the documentary did her any favors,” adding that it seems unlikely she will ever be released.
Asked if her family has been able to focus on healing, she said they have been consumed with fighting to protect Dominic and Davion’s legacies, as Shirilla’s parents have also spoken out to defend their daughter since the doc aired.
“I hope it calms down so our family can finally try to heal, because that has not happened yet,” she admitted.
“It’s been almost four years, and I miss my brother every day.
“My dad doesn’t know how to shut off his Facebook, and he’s just miserable reading the comments.
“Some of our family members are very private and choose not to speak, so this public frenzy isn’t fair to them.

“I’m tired of constantly having to defend my brother, but I will never stop.
“Once the popularity trickles down, I want to use my podcast platform to go into high schools, speak about teen domestic violence, highlight the red flags, and talk openly about grief.”
She revealed that despite the damning evidence against Shirilla, including the fact that she never took her foot off the gas before the crash, she still has some supporters.
“Somebody got my phone number this morning and was texting me the most disgusting things,” she said.
“I see it online, but I’m not paying it attention anymore; I stopped looking at comments.
“We know she’s guilty, the judge knows, and that’s what matters.
“It doesn’t matter what trolls think. There are a lot of weirdos sitting behind keyboards, but God knows what happened, and that’s all that matters.”
Christine is also leading a public petition calling on lawmakers to introduce “Dom and Davion’s Law.”
Subtitled Victims Before Influencers, the proposed legislation seeks to significantly update existing Son of Sam laws for the digital age.
It would close what supporters describe as major loopholes by preventing violent offenders from profiting from their crimes through notoriety, indirect earnings, or online revenue streams disguised via relatives, LLCs, or fan-run accounts.
If enacted, the law would require full transparency for any monetized content connected to offenders and bar them from receiving sponsorships, crowdfunding income, merchandise sales, or livestream donations while under supervision.
Any earnings generated from crime-related notoriety would instead be frozen or redirected directly into victim compensation funds.
“We don’t want to give her any more attention,” Christine added.
“Let’s cancel Kenzie, cancel them other creeps in the documentary cancel a lot of things.
“There’s a lot of bad people trying to get famous,” she said, referencing Mackenzie’s friends who also featured in the film and backed her.
Talking about the current Son of Sam Laws, she said, “It only covers like books, book deals, journals, newspapers, things that weren’t around in the 70s.
“Now, with the digital era, you have social media, you’ve got GoFundMe, you’ve got loopholes, you have family members taking in donations and things like that.
“I want to cut all that out and make it so she can’t become [rich].
“I know people say it’s freedom of speech or, you know, your right to be famous, say what you want, but it’s not okay to profit off of killing somebody that’s that’s what I want to stop.”
Christine added that she felt Netflix and the production company did a “pretty good job” and they treated the victims’ families with respect.
“Of course, there is missing information and more facts to the story because you can only fit so much into an hour and a half,” she said.
“On my podcast, I try to piece by piece review those missing facts.
“But overall, I thought they were pretty fair.

“They didn’t even have to edit her heavily; they just played her interview, and she looked like a psychopath on her own.”
