A devastating traffic accident occurred south of Adelaide on Saturday morning, claiming the life of an elderly driver after a horrific collision with a garbage truck.

The heartbreaking incident unfolded at around 11:00 AM on Saturday, at the intersection of Victor Harbor Road and Hindmarsh Tiers Road in Hindmarsh Valley. At that moment, a Ford SUV and a garbage truck collided with immense force.

The violent impact left the SUV heavily damaged. The driver of the SUV—a 93-year-old man from the nearby town of Myponga—sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene before medical teams could intervene. Meanwhile, the driver of the garbage truck, a 51-year-old man from Hindmarsh Island, miraculously escaped without any injuries.

Immediately upon receiving the alert, local police cordoned off the area to conduct a thorough examination of the scene and launch an investigation into the cause of this deadly crash.
