Prince Harry’s security debate is still ongoing as to whether or not he will have taxpayer-funded police protection in Britain again. The Duke of Sussex, who along with his wife Meghan Markle quit royal life in 2020 and moved to America, lost his automatic police protection in the UK in 2020.
Since then, Harry has argued against the decision, even taking the matter to court. The prince, who argued that lack of taxpayer-funded security in the UK made it too unsafe for his wife and children to visit, has been unsuccessful in his attempts to get it reinstated.
The Home Office have now been reviewing Harry’s case over the last few months, however a decision is yet to be made.
It has been reported that this is because the Home Office are concerned about backlash they could face if they do grant Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, taxpayer-funded police protection again.
As reported by The Sun, a Home Office source said: “There is nervousness among certain members of the committee who fear a public backlash.
“The political side believe there is too much political risk while the police and security chiefs believe that he absolutely must have it due to the extant threat.”

It is believed both Harry and Meghan will step foot in the prince’s home country this summer to attend a one-year Invictus Games event countdown.

If Meghan does attend, which could be dependent on the outcome of Harry’s security review, this will be the first time she has returned to Britain since 2022.
While Harry has visited plenty of times since, he has always argued that he feels the country is too unsafe to bring his wife and his children to.
