She tragically succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced dead last week following the horrifying ordeal on May 31.

The tot’s devastated dad Luca told the Gazette: “We’re heartbroken … it still doesn’t feel real.

“We’re waiting for her to come back.”

Ava has been described as a smart girl who loved making people laugh.

She was close to her brother, who she would often comfort when he was sad.

Her dad added: “She loved her little brother, hugging him and making him laugh when he would cry and singing him songs.”

Thunderstorms with wind gusts as strong as 50mph were recorded in Montreal on the day of the tragedy.

Luca was one of the 11 injured people when the storm hit.

Gino Moretto, whose granddaughter knew Ava, described it as a “war zone”.

Another local who attended the event told CTV: “A lot of wind came towards here, chairs started flying, tables started flying.

“I see the inflated house, and it went up high, at least 40 feet, I would say.

“It was just turning up in the air.”

LaSalle Borough Mayor Nancy Blanchet said: “Our entire community is deeply shaken by this serious accident.”

“Please know that the safety of the public, particularly that of children, remains a priority.”

Local authorities believe the bounce house flew roughly 12ft in the air.
