Sarah Ferguson has been one of the many named in the latest Epstein files as more emails sent by the former duchess to the late convicted paedophile have been released. In September, it emerged that Sarah had emailed Epstein in 2011 apologising for criticising him in a media interview.

In this email, which her spokesperson claims was only sent out of fear Epstein would sue Sarah for defamation, Sarah referred to Epstein as her “supreme friend”. The revelation resulted in Sarah’s biggest royal downfall.

A similar situation has now happened just last week, with more emails from Sarah to Epstein being made public. This includes emails sent after his release from prison for child sex offences, with Sarah praising Epstein for his friendship and appearing eager to keep in touch. Such revelations have resulted in the duchess’ popularity seemingly dropping even further.

Here at The Express we have looked at everything Sarah has lost since the Epstein scandals…

Sarah Ferguson

1. Sarah Ferguson lost her royal title

Last year, after previous Epstein files that mentioned Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor were made public, the divorced couple lost their royal titles. Since their wedding day in 1986, Andrew and Sarah were known as the Duke and Duchess of York. Sarah maintained this Duchess of York title despite their divorce. However, after the release of some Epstein files last year, Andrew was stripped of his dukedom, which ultimately meant Sarah lost her title too. This means she can no longer use the Duchess of York title.

The home she shared with Andrew

2. Sarah lost the Royal Lodge home she shared with Andrew

The revelations of the extent of Andrew and Sarah’s friendship with Epstein last year also resulted in the divorced couple reluctantly agreeing to leave their home, Royal Lodge in Windsor. While Andrew had a lease on the home, he had to give this up and accept the offer of a private property – Marsh Farm – on King Charles’s Sandringham estate. As Sarah had co-habited Royal Lodge with Andrew since 2008, this meant she will also have to leave the 30-room mansion. It is not yet known where she live, with the former duchess believed to be house-hunting in the Windsor area.

3. Various book deals

Sarah’s involvement with Epstein has also resulted in a hit on the former duchess’ career as an author. In November, it emerged that her latest children’s book Flora and Fern: Kindness Along The Way had been axed before it even made it onto the shelves. It was marked as “withdrawn from sale” at the request of the publisher.

Charity patronages

4. Charity patronages

After it emerged last September that she had emailed Epstein in 2011, calling him a “supreme friend”, Sarah lost many charity patronages. This included her role as patron for Julia’s House, The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, Prevent Breast Cancer, Teenage Cancer Trust, Children’s Literacy Charity, The National Foundation For Retired Service Animals and the British Heart Foundation. It is believed Sarah was gutted to be dropped by the charities as she was passionate about charity work.

The closure of Sarah’s Trust

5. The closure of Sarah’s Trust

Another tough blow for Sarah was announced this week when it was confirmed her charity Sarah’s Trust was to shut down. A charity spokesman said: “Our chair, Sarah Ferguson, and the board of trustees have agreed that, with regret, the charity will shortly close for the foreseeable. This has been under discussion and in train for some months. We remain extremely proud of the trust’s work over recent years. We have partnered with over 60 other charities in over 20 countries, providing education, healthcare, crisis response and environmental projects.”

Sarah Ferguson herself has not commented on the decision.
