Kate Middleton has shared an emotional and intensely personal video about healing through nature as she turns 44.
Released on Friday, Jan. 9, the Princess of Wales’ 44th birthday, the video, titled “Winter,” marks the fourth — and final — installment in the royal’s quarterly “Mother Nature” series, which she began in 2025.
The poignant film sees Princess Kate strolling over a bridge, dipping her hand in a stream and looking reflective as she stands in a frosty field, while providing a voiceover reflecting on her own personal experience with healing.

“Even in the coldest, darkest season, winter has a way of bringing us stillness, patience and quiet consideration. Where the stream slows just enough for us to see our own reflection. To discover the deepest parts of ourselves, alongside the whispers and the pulse of every living thing,” Kate’s voiceover begins.
“I find myself reflecting on how deeply grateful I am,” Kate, who wore a green coat and matching newsboy cap for the film, continues. “For the rivers within us flow with ease. Fears washed away, cleanse and purify. Come to peace with our tears, and discover what it means to be alive.”
“To be at one with nature. A quiet teacher and a soft voice that guides. In memory, helping us to heal,” Princess Kate adds.

In the caption, the royal shared that her “Mother Nature” series has been “a deeply personal, creative reflection on how nature has helped me heal. But it is also a story about the power of nature and creativity in collective healing.”
“There is so much we can learn from mother nature, as we look to build a happier, healthier world,” she added, signing off the message with “C,” which stands for her first name, Catherine.
PEOPLE understands the film captured Princess Kate on an early morning walk in Berkshire, the county where she lives with Prince William and their three children. Locations in the likes of London and the Cotswolds were also used in the film, which was captured by Will Warr.
Kate’s “Mother Nature” series launched in May 2025 at the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. The “Summer” episode was released in August, while an “Autumn” film dropped on Nov. 15.

The latest film comes a year after the Princess of Wales announced that she was “in remission” from cancer in January 2025. She first shared her cancer diagnosis in March 2024 and announced that she was undergoing treatment, including chemotherapy.
Kate has long been an advocate of connecting with nature, including the practice of “forest bathing,” and PEOPLE understands she is keen to further explore the power of nature and creativity in healing and wellbeing in her work.

Her love of the outdoors took on a deeper meaning amid her cancer treatment in 2024.
In her first health update after announcing her cancer diagnosis, Kate shared a photo of herself posing outdoors and leaning against a tree in Windsor, where the family lives. (Kate, William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis moved into their new home, Forest Lodge, in October 2025.)
Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told PEOPLE of the June 2024 photo, “There she is in nature, which has fortified her, and looking upward in a sign of real hope and encouragement for everybody.” She also chose an outdoor setting to share her cancer diagnosis.

Kate also chose to honor Mother Nature on Mothering Sunday, the U.K. equivalent of Mother’s Day, in March 2025 by sharing a video featuring numerous outdoor scenes.
“Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary,” Kate said in the caption of the Instagram post. “This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognize how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life.”
She signed the note with a “C.”
