Prince Harry is reportedly set to invite his father King Charles to open his Invictus Games in 2027. Royal fans could see the pair together in Birmingham when the Games returns in July for the first time in 13 years.
GB News presenters Stephen Dixon and Anne Diamond spoke to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams who says Prince Harry’s invitation to King Charles to open his Invictus Games next year is a “huge step to reconciliation”.
However, the move could prove disappointing for Prince William, who is currently not on speaking terms with his younger brother, according to reports.
The Invictus Games were founded by Harry in 2014 as a sporting contest to celebrate wounded, sick and injured military personnel.

Sources told The Sun that the King and the Duke of Sussex are keen to reconcile, and achieving this at next summer’s Games would be “appropriate” given Charles’s position as Head of the Armed Forces.
“This is Harry for once, using a very, very significant opportunity in a very positive way,” Fitzwilliams told viewers.
“Invictus founded in 2014 by Harry is a very significant military charity. Therefore you could argue that it’s part of the king’s duty and perhaps we then have reconciliation if this happens.
“You could also ask who else will be there? Will Meghan be there? If not, why not?”
He continued: “It’s a major dilemma as far as the king is concerned. I’m sure he won’t do anything without consulting Prince William first and we know he might have strong views about this.
Also, we have a period where Harry will be in court with Associated Newspapers. The king will not wish to be involved in that in any way. And of course there is a security review that is pretty well certain to give [Harry] what he has been wanting.
A huge question mark but undoubtedly as far as Harry is concerned it’s a very positive move towards reconciliation.”
Meanwhile, Harry will reportedly bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to Britain, should his personal security be granted, a royal correspondent has claimed.
The children of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not been seen in the UK since 2022, and have only met King Charles a handful of times throughout their lives.
