Only one confrontation over infidelity… but what happened next turned the entire apartment into a murd3:r scene

A man allegedly killed his girlfriend and her two children after he claimed he learned she had cheated on him with an ex.

Juan Carlos Orona faces three murder charges after allegedly killing the trio of family members at a Las Vegas apartment before calling police to turn himself in on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) said in a news release the following day.

Orona was taken into custody and LVMPD officers located the three victims, who the Clark County Coroner identified as 41-year-old Nohani Flores Osuna, 16-year-old Maiya Deleon Flores and 7-year-old Noah Morales Flores, according to FOX 5 Vegas.

The children and their mother suffered from apparent gunshot wounds, and all three were pronounced dead at the scene, the LVMPD said. Orona was also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, which police said was “non-life-threatening.”

Orona shot Osuna, whom he had been dating for “three to six months,” after she allegedly confessed to cheating on him with her ex-boyfriend, identified only as Henry, according to an arrest report obtained by CBS affiliate 8 News Now.

“Juan confirmed he confronted Nohani about infidelity with her Henry and she confirmed she had been having sexual relations with Henry, and he was better in bed than Juan,” the LVMPD arrest report states, per 8 News Now.

Orona said that upon hearing this, he “blacked out,” according to the arrest report.

He said that after he regained consciousness, he was holding a handgun in the bathroom and Osuna and her children’s bodies “were on the ground.” He allegedly did not deny that he shot the three victims and said he could not remember how it happened.

He also told family members that he lost control after the confrontation, 8 News Now reported. According to the outlet, the arrest report says Orona “made a statement that he recalled Nohani, and her children either yelled at him or came toward him during his blackout, but he could not elaborate further on these details.”

Asked why he had the handgun, Orona “stated it was for his protection in case Henry came to their apartment with the intent of harming him,” the arrest report states, per the outlet.

Orona was charged with three counts of open murder with a deadly weapon, as well as ten counts of discharging a gun into an occupied structure, according to police.

He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

It is unclear whether Orona — who made his first appearance in court on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 3 — has obtained legal representation.

PEOPLE reached out to the LVMPD and Clark County Office of the Coroner for comment on Saturday, Sept. 5, but did not receive immediate responses.
