The Princess of Wales may not have shared an official message on Mother’s Day, as she does traditionally; however, she issued another one, and it was largely missed. Instead of Princess Catherine, Prince William marked Mother’s Day by sharing a picture of his late mother, Princess Diana, who this year marks what would have been her 65th birthday.

However, the future Queen sent a message in another way, through the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. Catherine founded the centre in 2021in a bid to drive awareness and action on the transformative impact of the first five years of life, which she’s previously described as her “life’s work”.

Alongside an animated reel to mark the day, the centre posted the message: “Today we celebrate every mother, carer and caregiver whose steady love gives children the foundations to thrive.

“Here’s to all who nurture and guide with the quiet acts that shape the next generation. Happy Mother’s Day.”

Last year, the princess shared a video celebrating the power of Mother Nature.

The film featured footage of a range of natural environments – from woodlands and fields to beaches and the ocean – and sought to highlight our connection to the natural world and the benefits to us all of spending time in nature.

In a message, she said: “Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary. This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life. C.”

The shorts were taken by Will Warr, the videographer who regularly works for them.

Catherine has long been an advocate of spending time in the natural world and has previously hailed the “power of nature” to “keep us physically, mentally and spiritually healthy.”

It is understood that connecting with nature is something that has supported her recovery after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2024.

She is now in remission.
