Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are continuing their Sundance Film Festival appearances.
After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first-ever appearance at the annual event for a special screening of their latest documentary, Cookie Queens, on Saturday, Jan. 24, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the film’s official premiere on Sunday, Jan. 25, in Park City, Utah.
Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, posed on the red carpet at the Eccles Center Theater alongside director Alysa Nahmias and others involved in the coming-of-age documentary, which follows four Girl Scouts during the organization’s iconic cookie-selling season.
Speaking to PEOPLE on the red carpet, Meghan — who walked alongside Nahmias — shared a nostalgic favorite when asked about her go-to Girl Scout cookie.
“I’m a Thin Mints,” she said with a smile. “It’s such a classic. And as a Girl Scout, it was always the one that sold the fastest, so I think you remember it for that reason too.” As for the long-debated freezer question, she added, “I don’t know if you’re supposed to, but it’s certainly a nice plus!”

Reflecting on the film’s impact, Nahmias spoke about why the project resonated so deeply with her as a parent — a sentiment Meghan echoed.
“For me as a mom — and with my kids asking me to make a film that they and their friends would really want to watch — I hope it sparks conversations about what it means to grow up today, and opens up questions that can be difficult to have,” Nahmias said. “About the pressures that kids can feel from parents and society, especially girls — how we’re perceived, what our value is, and how we participate in the economy and in society.”
Meghan responded, praising the filmmaker’s vision, telling PEOPLE, “There’s nothing you can add to that. It’s the most perfect answer because it’s so true. That’s what she’s created with this. It’s incredible filmmaking, and I can’t wait for you to see it. I think people are going to love it.”

Inside the theater, Meghan took the stage to introduce Nahmias ahead of an early-morning screening of the film.
Thanking attendees for arriving at 9 a.m. after a late night, Meghan joked that it was “nothing that a little cookies and coffee can’t help,” before saying on behalf of herself, Harry and Archewell Productions that they were “so proud and privileged to help support and uplift Cookie Queens.”
“Yes, it’s probably the cutest film at the festival,” she said. “But I’m also going to go out on a limb and say it’s one of the most powerful and meaningful depictions of an American tradition.”

Describing the film, Meghan said it takes “something that is rooted in nostalgia” and reexamines it through director Alysa Nahmias’ creative lens to present a modern view of “the girlhood experience” — including “all the layers and complexities that come with that.”
“So yes, it’s cute, and yes, these young ladies are fantastic and adorable, but they are also layered, beautiful girls who are about to become very strong leaders and young women,” she concluded.

Both Harry and Meghan serve as executive producers on the 91-minute film that is screening in Sundance’s Family Matinee category. Their involvement in the project was first announced in December.
The documentary was directed by Alysa Nahmias, with Archewell Productions partnering alongside Beautiful Stories and AJNA Films.
The project is a personal one for Meghan, who was a Girl Scout growing up in California, with her mother, Doria Ragland, serving as her troop leader.
“As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film,” Meghan said in a statement shared by Deadline. “I’m proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary.”
“When we first viewed the early footage, it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in,” she continued. “The creative point of view, the edgy yet humanizing tone, and the glimpse behind the scenes of such a nostalgic — and also modern — tradition of Girl Scout Cookie season are absolutely irresistible.”

Meghan and Harry founded Archewell Productions in 2020 with a mission to spotlight “thought-provoking and diverse narratives that underscore our common humanity and celebrate community” across film, television, documentaries and podcasts.
In April 2025, Meghan shared childhood photos of herself selling Girl Scout cookies while promoting the launch of her Lemonada Media podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder.
“Being an entrepreneur can start young,” she wrote at the time. “(By the way, all these years later and I’m still selling cookies!)” The nod carried extra resonance, as Meghan now sells a cookie mix through her As ever lifestyle brand.
