Meghan Markle may jeopardise Prince Harry’s hopes of spending Christmas with King Charles following claims she breached an arrangement with the Royal Family.

Following their departure as working royals in January 2020, Harry and Meghan became financially self-sufficient and committed to no longer undertaking official duties on behalf of the monarchy. Whilst they surrendered their ‘Royal Highness’ styles and kept their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, Buckingham Palace made clear these should not be exploited commercially.

Since stepping back, the Duke is understood to have had minimal communication with both his father and elder brother. The Sussexes have also repeatedly criticised the Royal Family regarding their treatment whilst residing in Britain.

During a conversation with Harper’s Bazaar, author Kaitlyn Greenidge revealed she accompanied the Duchess to a Manhattan residence belonging to Meghan’s affluent associate, Victoria Jackson. Kaitlyn claimed the household staff member presented Meghan as the “Duchess of Sussex” despite just two individuals being present.

Royal commentators have expressed astonishment at this revelation, suggesting it shows the extent to which Meghan maintains her connection to Royal standing. British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard told Fox News Digital, “This is not protocol, let alone Royal protocol.”

She continued, “It’s peculiar and underscores that Meghan places tremendous value on her Royal status. Meghan will hold onto her Duchess of Sussex title as it gives her a sense of significance. The title remains beneficial for Meghan’s business ventures, especially in the United States. It sparks conversation and keeps her in the spotlight.”

British journalist Jane Moore also criticised Meghan for leveraging her Royal connections for personal gain, writing in The Sun, “The Sussexes supposedly ‘Megxited’ from the UK five years ago for a life of ‘financial independence’, yet they continue to exploit their Royal connections for their own commercial benefit.”

She further stated that the Sussexes’ use of their “bestowed” titles is “hilariously egotistical and breathtakingly hypocritical.”

The revelation about Meghan being introduced as a duchess comes after Closer reported Harry is hoping his father will invite him to spend Christmas with him in the UK, as they try to mend their relationship.

An insider disclosed, “Harry is on tenterhooks waiting to get the go-ahead to visit King Charles in England at Christmas and is adamant that he needs to be with his father any chance he gets.”

It is argued the claim about Meghan could annoy King Charles and discourage him from inviting Harry to spend the festive season with him.

Harry met his father at his London residence in September in an effort to improve relations between them. It was their first face-to-face meeting in 19 months.
