Is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in trouble?

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been spotted out driving today (Thurs) with a large red mark on his right cheek.

It remains unclear when and how Andrew, who has been called Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor since losing his royal titles last year, may have obtained the marking. The Times reported that the discoloration “is thought to be the result of a non-serious medical condition.”

The former Duke of York has been based at the Sandringham Estate since February, temporarily living at the late Prince Philip’s Wood Farm home before moving into Marsh Farm in April.

The residence underwent extensive renovations before Andrew moved in, and the King’s brother made the move after being evicted from Royal Lodge, his 30-room mansion and longtime home in Windsor Great Park, in October 2025.

The former prince got the boot as King Charles, 77, stripped Andrew’s royal titles in October 2025 as his links to the late Jeffrey Epstein came under renewed scrutiny. Andrew’s ties to the late American financier and convicted sex offender set his step back from royal life in motion in 2019, though he has continuously denied any wrongdoing regarding their relationship.

The late Queen Elizabeth’s second son was arrested at home in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Andrew was detained as police investigate a claim that he shared confidential information with the late Jeffrey Epstein in his previous role as a U.K. trade envoy and was released after spending about 11 hours in police custody.

In an update shared in May, the Thames Valley Police announced that they were continuing with the investigation, which is widening to assess claims of sexual misconduct.

PEOPLE reached out to a representative for the former Duke of York but did not immediately receive a response.
