Following an intensive and rigorous investigation, the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) has officially confirmed the arrest of a key suspect believed to be directly involved in the shocking shooting that occurred on the evening of Sunday, May 24.

The Tragic Sequence of Events

The case began with a distressing report that sent local authorities into immediate action. Initially, police officers arrived at the intersection of Beech Street and Douglas Avenue around 8:20 p.m. following a call from local residents. However, through careful investigation and scene processing, detectives were able to determine that the actual location of the attack was in the 3300 block of Hollywood Street.

The consequences of the incident have left an irreparable loss. Johnathan Chambers, a young man of only 20, tragically succumbed to his injuries after being struck by gunfire. Additionally, a female victim who was present at the scene also sustained injuries. Fortunately, according to initial medical reports, her wounds were not considered life-threatening, and she was transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent care.

The Investigation and Law Enforcement Pursuit

In the effort to track down the perpetrator, investigators from the Baton Rouge Police Department focused all their resources and professional expertise on identifying potential suspects. Through close coordination between various units, LaDarius Lee was identified as the primary person of interest in the case.

The apprehension was successful in Pointe Coupee Parish, where the suspect, LaDarius Lee, was apprehended and taken into custody. Immediately following the arrest, he was safely transported back to Baton Rouge to assist with the ongoing criminal investigation.

Facing Justice

At present, suspect LaDarius Lee has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Given the exceptionally serious nature of the crime, authorities have formally charged Lee with a series of grave offenses, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, and the illegal use of a weapon.
