A dramatic new development has been announced by authorities regarding a vehicle arson case that took place in late May. Following a meticulous process of gathering evidence and filtering intelligence, investigative forces have officially arrested a suspect believed to have directly carried out the act of torching a vehicle in the 4700 block of Shelly Street.

The Failure of Deception

The incident began on May 26, when the Baton Rouge Fire Department received reports of a severe vehicle fire at a residence in the 4700 block of Shelly Street. Upon arriving at the scene and employing professional investigative procedures, the response team quickly determined that this was not an accidental occurrence, but rather a criminal act—the fire had been intentionally ignited.

During the tracking process, investigators focused their attention on Lawrenceen Wheeler Jr. Although the suspect had previously provided alibis to assert his innocence by insisting he was at home throughout the duration of the incident, factual evidence completely refuted these claims. Through the extraction of data from security cameras installed around the vicinity of the scene, authorities captured footage of an individual whose physical description matched Wheeler perfectly. Furthermore, the chain of evidence collected placed Wheeler in the area before, during, and after the fire erupted.

A Link in an Arson Conspiracy

Digging deeper into the nature of the case, investigators believe that the actions of Lawrenceen Wheeler Jr. were not merely impulsive, but part of a plan directed by Nehemiah Shaver. It is understood that Nehemiah Shaver had previously been apprehended and charged with criminal conspiracy to simple arson in connection with this same case.

The arrest, which took place on June 11, marked a significant success for the Baton Rouge Fire Department’s investigative unit. With close coordination and assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, investigators successfully executed the arrest warrant for Wheeler without incident. Immediately after being transported to headquarters, the suspect was processed into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Currently, Lawrenceen Wheeler Jr. has been officially charged with one count of simple arson. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to clarify the roles of all involved parties and ensure that all illegal activities face appropriate justice under the law.
