FOUR farm workers were burned alive in a horrific inferno as shocking CCTV footage shows attackers holding the vehicle’s doors shut.

Disturbing footage showed two men blocking the doors of a parked minivan with their arms outstretched, preventing anyone inside from escaping.

At the same time, a third suspect is believed to have poured a flammable liquid through the vehicle’s rear hatch.

The suspects were then seen fleeing the scene as flames suddenly engulfed the van.

Fire crews rushed to the petrol station in Cosenza, initially believing they were responding to an accidental blaze.

After eventually extinguishing the fire, firefighters made the grim discovery of four charred bodies inside the vehicle.

The victims were later identified as three Afghan nationals and one Pakistani farm worker.

A fifth occupant, also Afghan, survived.

Italian authorities have since launched a murder investigation.

Two Pakistani suspects were arrested in the nearby town of Villapiana and taken in for questioning.

Investigators tracked them down using surveillance footage and witness testimony, although at least one other suspect remains on the run.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Detectives quickly began to suspect foul play after examining the scene.

Despite suffering extensive fire damage, the minivan was not completely destroyed, raising questions about why none of the occupants had managed to escape.

Investigators also noted that the blaze had consumed the entire vehicle rather than being concentrated around the petrol pump.

However, it was the harrowing CCTV footage that proved the most damning piece of evidence.

In the aftermath of the killings, the Calabrian Democratic Party issued a public appeal, urging witnesses to come forward.

A statement read: “Whoever knows, speak up. Calabria cannot remain indifferent to the deaths of four human beings, especially when they are migrants, too often exposed to conditions of vulnerability, exploitation, and marginalization.”

The attack comes amid rising tensions between rival criminal gangs in the region.

However, investigators have reportedly ruled out any involvement by the ‘Ndrangheta – the powerful Calabrian mafia syndicate – believing the high-profile nature of the killings does not fit the group’s typical methods.
